Conveniently and centrally located in the city of Basel. The campus provides an on-site outdoor space for „unplugged time“ activities, and for working with our outdoor oriented STEM curriculae. In addition, we are just a few short minutes walk from the park picnics and activities. Week-long, full and half-day (Monday-Friday) programs during the holidays.

PROGRAM OPTIONS
Children will be working with Sumo Robot League (SRL) and MakeBlock Robots. SRL and MakeBlock are scalable STEM education platforms using a competitive robotics curriculum for 8–16 year old children. The program provides hands on lessons that give students the opportunity to build a robot using: electrical circuits, 3D print adaptive and custom decorative components, skill-level appropriate code development platforms, and code sensor-based autonomous response algorithms. Children will be using the C++ programming language, and Scratch for younger participants. In addition, the robot kits are expandable to include exercises in mobile app development, machine learning (AI), and the internet of things.
Ages: 8-16
Skill Level: Beginner – Advanced
Tools: MakeBlock, SumoRobotLeague, Arduino, C++, Scratch, TinkerCAD, 3D Printing
What You Take Home: TechLabs USB Stick with C++/Scratch sketches, STL models of 3D designs developed during the class, Battle Robot
When you build your own BB8-style robot its a lot more fun! When you use Legos, its even easier and provides ample opportunity to experiment and improve your design and performance. And once its finished, we can race or compete using them against our camp-mates. How about making ball-sorters or your very own invention using Sam Labs gear? If movies or videos are your interest we have Go-Pros, 3D Fabrication, Drones and Stop Motion Film Making Equipment and editing software to help you make your own .GIFs, YouTube videos or stand-alone movies. Project Based Learning is the guiding principle for this camp, and is geared towards younger campers.
Ages: 8-10
Skill Level: Beginner – Intermediate
Tools: SamLabs, Lego, Scratch, Drones
What You Take Home: DIY Remote Control BB8 Robot, TechLabs Remote Control Drone, TechLabs Dart Gun
In collaboration with the Enabling The Future (www.enablingthefuture.org) project, children participating in this program will design, create and deliver a prosthetic robotic arm to underprivileged children throughout the world. 1 in 2000 children are born each day that can benefit from a prosthetic device produced in conjunction with this program. Over 6000 prosthetic arms have already been successfully donated by Enabling The Future and we have built a special curriculum, utilizing all of TechLabs‘ resources to engage children in a highly focused project where they will get to experience the impact of open source technology to lower barriers to innovation, and provide access to life-improving technology. Kids can expect to learn advanced 3D Design & Printing Techniques, Circuitry, Sensors, and open-source research skills.
Ages: 12+
Skill Level: Intermediate
Tools: 3D Printing, 3D Design, Mechanical Engineering, Circuits & Sensors
What You Take Home: Each pair of children will produce one Robotic Hand which will be donated to the Enabling the Future charity in their names.
