TechLabs is excited to be the exclusive organizing partner for the Global Makeblock MakeX robotics competition bringing the first ever MakeX competition to Switzerland!
MakeX is a global robotics competition platform that promotes multidisciplinary learning within the fields of science and technology. MakeX events are held by regional sponsors that provide exciting, challenging and high- level training and competitions in the spirit of creativity, teamwork, fun and sharing for children ages 6 to 16. Swiss Champions from the event will win an all-expenses-paid trip to represent Switzerland at the MakeX World Championship to be held in China! This final event will consist of championship teams from over 60 participating countries.
About MakeX Switzerland 2019 Competition:
MakeX Starter – City Guardian is a multitasking competition for young people between 6 to 16 years old, its theme of 2019 Season is “City Guardian.” It is divided into two parts: automatic stage and manual stage. Contestants can improve logical thinking by graphical programming; learn more collaborative strategy by working with their alliance; develop problem solving skills through the implementation of electronic parts, mechanical structure and software programming. The mission design of City Guardian is focusing on encouraging collaboration and communication between two alliances and thus inspiring contestants to develop good social skills from an early age. There will be two competition levels, Elementary for ages 6-13, and Intermediate for 12 to 16.
Pre-requisite: To successfully participate in this event, students must be familiar with, and prepare (build and program) a competitive Makeblock mBot robot, part of the MakeX kit robotics platform. Training materials and competition specifications are available on-line, and TechLabs can assist with student, teacher or mentor training. Teams can purchase MakeX kits, or can request a kit for loan from TechLabs (limited supply). Time and space are limited, with the last classes being offered during late October 2019 across Switzerland. Contact TechLabs for more information.
The first step to participate in the MakeX 2019 Switzerland Robotics Competition is to pre-register your team, comprised of 2 youth team members and an adult mentor. Per team registration fee is 100chf and will include entry into the MakeX Switzerland competition, t-shirts for team participants, a gift package and lunch!
DEMONSTRATION SPACE (NEW):
Even if you are not ready to participate in the MakeX Competition, you are welcome to come and observe, and TAKE PART! We’re setting up a special space where you can try out the robots in a game of football/soccer, and even learn how to do a few coding tricks to upgrade and customize your robot player. Participation and entry are free, but you MUST pre-register (pre-registration is possible at the door on the day of the event, but space is limited!).
